Objective – students will learn how to knit an afterthought heel in their socks. This
technique works with both cuff down and toe up socks knit in the round.
Level – adventurous beginner, comfortable using fingering weight yarn
Required skills – students are expected to come to class with either the leg or foot of a
sock completed, ready for heel placement. (This class works well as a follow up to the 2-at-a-time on the Magic Loop class.)
Socks in progress – students should come with at least one sock ready for heel
placement. This means either the leg of a cuff down sock or the foot of a toe up
sock is complete. Socks must be knit in the round, but can be done using any method
(magic loop, dpns, etc.)
Waste yarn – about 20 yards of yarn in the same weight but different color from
your in-progress socks. Don’t choose a super sticky or fuzzy yarn for this.
